Your child has several opportunities to get involved at Westgate this winter. Read on to learn more!
1) Stay Active with the Wolves. Complete the Chicago Wolves Hockey form sent home via backpack mail to earn a free ticket to a Wolves game. Completed forms should be turned in to Coach K.
2) Keep Moving this December. Support our classroom and Westgate's student council as we try to stay active this winter. Help your child record their activities in a form sent home via backpack mail or download it by clicking the link below. Did you fill up your form? Grab a second one and Keep Moving! The winning classroom will be awarded a prize.
3) Read To Great America is a reading incentive program. Students who complete the requirements earn themselves a free ticket to Great America. Good news! Goldstein class students who complete their weekly reading log will easily meet this reading goal. Just complete the form and enjoy the rewards of your hard work!
Winter is here in full force. At Westgate, that means Winter Recess. Please help your child enjoy the snowy weather by staying organized. Our winter gear is stored in the hallway. A large bag is very helpful to store our gear and prevent it from accidentally traveling down the hall. Some students also appreciate bringing a second pair of gloves or socks to ensure they have warm gear for second recess. In order to enjoy playing in the snow, your child needs:

We switched our Social Studies focus from citizenship and have jumped into geography. We've begun by exploring how our world is named and categorized. To help us memorized the continents and major oceans, we've enjoyed practicing a new song and playing the fly swatter game. Next week, we will dive deeper into exploring maps and using compasses.
