Today, your child brought home their first long-term project of second grade. Please review this project with your student and help them determine a timeline to complete it successfully. Please also help your student find a safe place to keep their cube faces until it is time for assembly. All work should be done at home excluding a day of research during our Curriculum Snapshot, to which you are all invited too! (See earlier posting for more details). Students are provided three weeks of time in oder to accommodate upcoming holidays and encourage students to perform research over a period of time. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns. Thanks!
We loved watching the Rolling Meadows marching band and color guard perform for us today! They shared a little about what it means to be in a marching band and played a sample of their favorite music including their fight song and popular artists like Neon Trees. They also highlighted the different instruments in a marching band that might be new to us. Many of us left the performance eager to join the band when we get to high school!

Happy Columbus Day today! Please remember to take a moment and discuss this holiday with your students. As a class, we will brainstorm Christopher Columbus' legacy when we return to school this week. Watch the Brainpop Movie above to learn more about the man behind the holiday!
