![]() Our class visited the Skokie Center of Performing Arts to view the Golden Dragon Acrobats perform as a kick-off to our social studies unit on China. This thrilling experience featured a variety of acrobatic numbers with student favorites being the acrobat who stacked chairs all the way to the theater ceiling and another acrobat who could balance and twirl large items (like tables and vases) with her feet, while upside down. We are sorry in advance if we try this at home!! ![]() Gung Hay Fat Choy! Happy New Year! We welcomed Katie's mother into our classroom on Friday, January 31st, to help us celebrate the Chinese New Year. We learned how families celebrate this holiday as we read stories, practiced our own Chinese calligraphy, and received traditional new year gifts including tasty oranges and gold coins. Students were amazed how quickly they began reading and understanding Mandarin symbols. We look forward to our Social Studies unit on the country and people of China in just a few weeks! |
