Our classroom will participate in MAP testing this winter. The MAP test is designed to asses students' math and literacy skills. This winter, students will take the MAP test to provide them with the experience of completing this exam. Due to scheduling limitations, students will be completing the test with a substitute proctor. Each time a student completes this test, it is taken on a computer. The test will self-adjust to identify the student's current ability level, giving each student a. At times, students will face questions that are both simple and very challenging for the student. Winter results will not be use to determine appropriate instruction. However, students will retest in the spring. At this time, students will be familiar with the testing procedure. As needed, these results may inform future instruction. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns about MAP testing.

This week, we found our creative side. To kick off our next writing unit, we made Descriptive Posters. We used these posters to brainstorm ways to add description to our writing. We recorded our favorite descriptions about ourselves using adjectives, adverbs, and unique details.
We continued to use our creativity when Mrs. Claus and Mrs. Allison joined us in the classroom for an art appreciation lesson. We learned about the iconic painting American Gothic and studied several famous parodies of this painting before getting a chance to make our own!
Photos of our Descriptive Posters and our American Gothic parodies can be found under the Class Photos tab. Enjoy!
We are transitioning from our Citizenship Unit and moving forward into our Geography Unit. Watch this quick clip to see one way we reviewed the continents of the world.
